Muwékma Four Directions Native Plant Garden Planting Day at the Stanford Farm

Sunday, August 21st, 2022
Stanford University Farm
175 Electioneer Road Stanford, CA 94305

Muwékma Ohlone Tribal Members gathered at the Stanford University Farm to plant the first Native plants in the Muwékma Four Directions Garden. This is a Native Garden dedicated to our Muwékma People. We planted the following Native plants in the Muwékma Four Directions Garden - health plants, grassland foods, berries, and plants used for making things like cordage and baskets.

The plants we put in the ground were very small but will grow a lot and live for many years.

After planting, we celebrated with homemade pizza at the Farm courtesy of Patrick Archie, Director of the Stanford Educational Farm, O’Donohue Educational Farm, and Stanford University Chef Andrew.

Video and Photos taken by Muwékma Ohlone Tribal Member Ishmael Bruno.
